Other types of charts

Zodiac Watch can be configured to draw two different types of chart graphics. Besides the standard wheel chart there is a bar chart, similar to the chart shown in figure 6. (If you are confused by that chart, refer to the element section.) In a bar chart all signs are positioned top, "Ram" on the left to "Fishes" on the right. Thus the area covered by a sign is a column (instead of a disc segment). Planets and houses are drawn below the signs they are in. If they leave the chart on the right or left hand side, they will come in on the other side again.

Elements

On the other hand you may change the type of the chart itself. The default type is "Zodiac" with twelve signs. As each sign belongs to a certain element (as indicated by its color), the chart may be reduced to four signs - elements in this case. To manage this the whole wheel is cut into three parts of 120 degrees each. Than these parts are put above each other - "Ram" matches with "Lion" which matches with "Archer". Then the four remaining signs are scaled up three times to cover full 360 degrees. So planets and houses move three times faster than in the basic wheel chart. (Note that this mapping is not equal to dividing the whole wheel into four parts.) An example for that type of chart can be seen in figure 6 showing an element bar chart graphic. The used signs represent elements and are symbolized by special symbols:

[Fire symbol] Fire [Earth symbol] Earth [Air symbol] Air [Water symbol] Water

House system boundaries have to be reduced as well. The standard house system of twelve houses is reduced to quarters: The first, second and third house come to the first quarter, the fourth, fifth and sixth house come to the second quarter, and so on. So the element chart shows just the "Ascendant" (AC), the forth house (IC), the "Descendant" (DC) and the "Midheaven" (MC). All planet- and house-details as well as planet-position-statistics are adjusted to the reduced number of signs and houses.

Attributes

Besides elements each sign of the zodiac has a certain attribute. There are three attributes: "Cardinal", "Fixed" and "Mutuable". So the chart may be reduced to three signs - attributes in this case. This works exactly the same way as for elements. The house system is reduced to thirds. The used signs are represented by the following symbols:

[Cardinal symbol] Cardinal [Fixed symbol] Fixed [Mutuable symbol] Mutuable

Energies

Each sign of the zodiac is either "Male" or "Female". So the chart may be reduced to two signs - energies in this case. This works exactly the same way as for elements or attributes. The house system is reduced to halfs. All planet- and house-details as well as planet-position-statistics are adjusted to show energies and halfs instead of signs and houses. The used energies are represented by the following symbols:

[Male symbol] Male [Female symbol] Female
